In recent years, our customers have repeatedly expressed a desire to offer more maritime unique pieces in addition to our detailed models. Inspired by this feedback, we embarked on a search for an exceptionally talented and renowned artist – and found him in Gregory Smith. Together with the British marine artist, we are expanding our portfolio with the exclusive Compass Models Art Collection. His paintings, which include both historical and modern motifs, are sought after internationally in private collections. Recently, even well-known offshore sailors such as Tracy Edwards and Marco Trombetti acquired his masterpieces.
Traditional craftsmanship & attention to detail
Gregory Smith works exclusively with traditional oil techniques. His art is based on intensive archival research: From original historical plans and ship logs to contemporary photographs, this thorough preparatory work ensures that every painting is technically absolutely detailed and authentic. His precise working method has already received several awards in the art world, including the RSMA New Generation Award, the ArtMarine Prize, the The Pioneer Award and the The Bonham Trophy.

His works have been prominently exhibited on many occasions, including at the annual exhibitions of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) in London and the Southampton International Boat Show.
